What we stand for, and what we do.

CFBNY is sharply focused on the solutions that will make our state functional

CFBNY along with more than 30 other state groups, has joined forces for a common push.

The focus of these crucial reforms:

  • Reform the way electoral campaigns are funded and conducted
  • Change the way legislative district lines are drawn
  • Improve the transparency, accountability and rules of the legislature
  • Reclaim fair elections, with 'clean money, clean elections' legislation

The following is our group's platform

once again - the Four R's:

Rules Changes - we need to fix a flawed legislative process
Redistricting - we need independent redistricting to restore competitive elections
Referendum and Initiative - citizens must have a way to bypass a dysfunctional legislature when necessary
Reclaim Fair Elections - with government financing of certain elections, the power of governance is returned to voters, and taken from special interests.

The four R's are achievable real-world reforms. By forcing legislators to be more accountable to their constituents, we can reverse the Empire State's decline.

CFBNY is a non-partisan, grassroots, all-volunteer group of activists who have organized to publicly and aggressively support reform of New York State government.

CFBNY members are volunteers, but that doesn't mean we're all amateurs. Our members come from varied walks of life. Many are just ordinary citizens who recognize that Albany is still not serious about reform. All of us realize that until we can confront politicians with an organized, informed and assertive group of citizens, who are willing to speak out about how these issues affect their quality of life and their pocketbook, reform will remain stalled.

CFBNY doesn't share your email address with any other organization, or use it for anything except keeping you updated on the fight to reform New York State government. The Brennan Center Report calls it "the most dysfunctional legislature in the nation." If you have a personal story about how our ineffective and unresponsive state government has adversely affected you, please send us an email at info2 (at) cbgny.org.
